Personal record
I was born in Northallerton , ENGLAND , and following my A-Levels I read Geography at Durham University . After graduating (B.A. Hons in Geography), I went on a one-year teacher training programme.
I came to Germany in 1975 and taught English as a foreign language at the Fabritianum grammar school in Krefeld up to 1980.
From then to 1986 I was a free-lance teacher of English in the adult educational field.
After passing the translation and interpreting examination for English/German at the Chamber of Trade and Commerce in Düsseldorf, I was employed as a technical translator for English at Deutsche Babcock Werke AG. In the year 2000 I was moved to the Press and Publicity Office of Babcock Borsig AG. Here I was responsible for drafting the annual and interim reports into English together with publicity brochures and internet presentations.
I lost my job with many others following the insolvency of Babcock Borsig AG in the summer of 2002. This time I decided to further my career as a free-lance technical translator and interpreter.
